A shared doc named “Information for Individuals to be Rescued” was circulated in the immediate hours following one of the most fatal floods in China’s history, resulting in 302 dead and 50 missing.
The shared doc memorialized a series of synchronization and inevitable de-synchronization due to both the deteriorating situation and the status of the individuals in danger, which remained unclear until the rescue request was declared terminated. This drawing looks at how the doc presents itself as a democratic logging device that generates anonymous and instant connections based on time (objective and perceived), location, and data exchange; the doc preserved an infomap as a memorial for those crucial hours.
